Richard Michael Genelle (October 12, 1961 – December 30, 2008) was an entrepreneur and actor best remembered for his role as Ernie in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television series.

Genelle played Ernie, the good-natured owner of the Angel Grove Youth Center, the most popular hangout for Angel Grove’s youths, from 1993 to 1997. Birthday parties, school activities, martial arts tournaments, and community charity events were all frequently held by him.

He also provided complimentary drinks and food to his customers and assisted them if they needed anything. Ernie abruptly left the Youth Center after four seasons to conduct emergency volunteer work in South America, handing over ownership of the Youth Center to Jerome Stone.

What happened to Richard Genelle?

In real life, Genelle departed the show to address his smoking issues and weight, eventually shedding over forty pounds. He also founded Retail Logistics Solutions, Inc., a transportation company in Cerritos, California.

Genelle died of a heart attack on December 30, 2008, at the age of 47. Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park in Riverside, California, held his memorial service. He was laid to rest in that cemetery.
