Mike Tomlin (born Michael Pettaway Tomlin) is an American football coach who began his career as a college football coach leading up to the NFL. He is the first African-American head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Tomlin also is the youngest head coach to win the Super Bowl at the age of 36 after the Steelers won in 2009. Recently, he surpassed Bill Cowher after reaching 150 regular-season wins by a Steelers head coach.

Along with a successful coaching career, Mike Tomlin also has a successful marriage. Mike married Kiya Winston, a fashion designer, in 1996, right after graduation.

Tomlin met his now-wife, Kiya, while studying at The College of William & Mary. Mike was pursuing law at the university while his wife was studying medicine and was also a gymnast.

Tomlin was a terrific player in college. He was a wide receiver and had a school record of 20.2 yards-per-catch average. However, despite studying law and graduating in Sociology, Mike switched to football, particularly to coaching.

To support her husband, Kiya also switched careers. She gave up her medical degree and gymnastic to join the University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Art, and Architectural Planning. There, she studied to become a fashion designer.

As a daughter of a divorce, Kiya grew up watching her mother struggle financially while supporting her children. It was one of the reasons for Winston to pursue a medical career.

However, after marrying Tomlin, they were always on the road, moving from city to city due to his coaching career. But after joining the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2007, Kiya and Mike have found a permanent home in Squirrel Hill, located at the East End of Pittsburgh.

After 25 years of marriage, Mike and Kiya have three children, Michael Dean, Mason, and Harley Quinn.

Kiya is also the owner of Uptown Sweats, a collection of re-imagined sweatsuits for women launched in 2014.

Both Mike Tomlins and his wife Kiya Winston are American citizens and are of African-American ethnicity.

Religiously, they’re both Christians who attend the Christian and Missionary Alliance church in Pittsburgh.

Mike is an avid believer of faith and religion, and he puts it into practice even during the games.

He is not only thankful to Tony Dungy, the former Indianapolis Colts head coach, for bringing him into the NFL. But also for becoming his mentor when it comes to religion and faith in Jesus Christ.

Kiya has been married to Tomlin since 1996. Together, in 25 years, they have three children.

Their firstborn was a son, Michael Dean, who was born in 2000. Kiya then gave birth to another son, Mason, in 2002. And finally, in 2006, their daughter, Harley Quinn, was born.

Mike was born in Hampton, Virginia, to father Ed Tomlin, a former footballer, and mother, Julia. He also had an elder brother, Eddie, who passed away in 2012 due to a heart attack at 63.

Despite being a footballer’s son, Tomlin hardly knew his father as his parents separated while he was young. He grew up with his brother Eddie, his mother Julia, and his stepfather Leslie Copeland.
