Wayne Swinny, founding member and guitarist of the band Saliva, suffered a brain hemorrhage and is presently fighting for his life in the intensive care unit.

Saliva released a statement on Wednesday saying,

“Our dear brother Wayne Swinny was discovered Tuesday morning in medical trouble and paramedics were called.”

“After being taken to the hospital, doctors determined that he had had a Spontaneous Hemorrhage in the brain. At this time, we know only that he is in the intensive care unit waiting for updates.”

The rock band, which Wayne helped form in 1996 together with Bobby Amaru, Brad Stewart, and Sammi Bishop, currently include all four members.

While details on his condition remain sketchy, the band has asked for prayers and kind vibes from their devoted fanbase.

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our brother Wayne Swinny. Wayne passed away this afternoon from a Spontaneous brain hemorrhage while we were out on tour. Details for the funeral arrangements will be announced shortly. Wayne will be missed by all those who knew him.

The American rock band Saliva was formed in 1996 in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1997, Saliva released their debut album, simply titled Saliva, on Mark Yoshida’s company, Rockingchair Records. Bill Pappas worked his production magic at Rockingchair Studios to record and mix the album.
