Who was Mikhail Gorbachev’s wife Raisa Gorbacheva?
Raisa Maximovna Titarenko was born in the city of Rubtsovsk. She is the eldest of three children of Maxim Andreyevich Titarenko, a railway engineer, and his Siberian wife, Alexandra Petrovna Porada.
While studying philosophy in Moscow, she met her future husband Mikhail Gorbachev. She later earned an advanced degree at the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute. Afterward, she taught for a while at Moscow State University.
In September 1953, she married Mikhail Gorbachev and gave birth to their only child, Irina Mikhailovna in 1957.
Raisa Gorbacheva cause of death
She suffered a stroke in October 1993 and in July 1999, she was diagnosed with leukemia by the Institute of Haematology RAMS.
She traveled along with her husband and daughter to Münster for treatment at the medical clinic of the Münster University Hospital. There she received treatment for two months.
However, she passed away on September 20, 1999, at the age of 67.
