With the release of the joint singles “I Know What You Did Last Summer” with Shawn Mendes and “Bad Things” with Machine Gun Kelly, the latter of which peaked at number four on the US Billboard Hot 100, Cabello started to establish herself as a solo artist while being a member of Fifth Harmony. Late in 2016, she disbanded the crew.

Camila Cabello is discussing her journey to “X-Factor” in public for the first time. On the first night of “The Voice” live performances, the former Fifth Harmony band member chatted with Access Hollywood’s Scott Evans and said that she had previously tried out for the program.
Camila clarified that despite doing well on “The Voice,” she eventually decided to focus on “X-Factor.” She stated, “I wanted to meet One Direction.” NBC broadcasts “The Voice” at 8/7c on Mondays and Tuesdays.
