In June, CBS officially announced the airdate of the “Survivor” Season 43 premiere (which, like the last two seasons, will begin without any defining theme and hence will only be known as “Survivor 43”). The season will premiere with a two-hour special on Wednesday, September 21, and will continue to air at 8 p.m. EST on CBS every Wednesday.
The 43rd season of Survivor is currently filming in Fiji’s Mamanuca Islands and will feature 18 new castaways divided into three tribes. As with Survivor 41 and 42, the season will last for 26 days. Once again, there is no subtitle attached to the season relating to a theme or a location.
According to The True Dork Times, filming for “Survivor 43” began on May 2, and wrapped up on May 27, meaning the season stuck to the new 26-day schedule, which was originally implemented in order to accommodate quarantine regulations in Fiji. Recently, however, host and executive producer Jeff Probst hinted that this new format may be permanent.
Chances are “Survivor” is here to stay for a long time – at least until season 50, according to host Jeff Probst. Casting for the upcoming seasons is likely currently underway, and filming for “Survivor 43” is likely to begin sometime next month.
And that Season 44 will be done back-to-back with Season 43, having the same tribe format and length as the three preceding seasons. With all of those similarities, some might understandably be afraid that we are simply getting Seasons 41 and 42 with a vaguely new coat of paint.
“ Survivor 43” was officially given the green light by CBS in March 2022 and it began production in Fiji shortly afterwards. Just like Seasons 41 and 42, the show is adhering to strict Covid-19 safety guidelines for all cast and crew members, including host Jeff Probst.
