John Peck A man Zachary Zoran who attempted to steal a woman’s car keys and “charged towards officers” who reacted was shot by police in Barberton on Monday, according to police. Zachary D. Zoran, 34, of Akron passed away after being rushed to the hospital for care.
When a lady contacted 911 to report that a guy had reportedly followed her, intimidated her, and demanded that she hand over her car keys and other valuables, police said they arrived on the scene around 9 a.m.
A family member was allegedly threatened by Zoran on Christmas Day in Cuyahoga Falls, according to the police, who claimed Zoran was wanted on a felony warrant for aggravated menacing. According to Barberton police, Zoran was also mentioned in a Cuyahoga Falls incident from Monday where he was accused of threatening a different family member.
When he spotted them approaching the YMCA, according to Barberton police, Zoran allegedly fled away, but when they followed him to a neighboring parking lot, he brandished a knife.
