However, genealogical records and other evidence reveal that George Santos’ ancestors have lived in Brazil for at least three generations and have no connection to Ukraine, Jewish heritage, or Holocaust survivors. George Santos claimed that his maternal grandparents were Ukrainian Jews who fled to Belgium and then to Brazil during World War II.

His campaign website’s earlier in 2022 archived versions assert that his grandparents left Europe during the war and are Belgian. Additionally, Santos stated that his father was from Angola.

Tiffany Lee Devolder Santos is his sister. His maternal great-grandfather left Belgium in 1884 and moved to Brazil.
