On April 28, 1976, Gultekin married novelist, playwright, screenwriter, filmmaker, singer-songwriter, scholar and lecturer Humayun Humayun Ahmed at Holy Cross College in Dhaka. Then she studied at the University of Dhaka and obtained a BA in English Literature.
She dreamed of being a doctor at the beginning of her life but her early marriage decimated that dream. She had a huge talent and could become a doctor, but she dreams of not staying with her husband for her graduate studies abroad.
Humayun Ahmed falls in love with the actress of his daughter, Meher Afroz Shaon, who decided to marry her. Eventually, Humayun divorced Gultekin Khan’s first wife in 2002.
