Steven Cohen is married to Alex Cohen. Alexandra Cohen, also known as Alex Cohen, was born in Harlem and raised in Washington Heights, New York. She earned a degree in communications from Manhattan College in New York and went on to pursue a career in finance.

She met Steve Cohen through a dating agency in 1991, shortly after his first wife had divorced him. Alex and Cohen married the following year. Alex was a single mother when she met her husband, and the two have seven children together, three of whom are from previous marriages.

Alex is the president of the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation, a non-profit organisation she co-founded with her husband Steve in 2001. She is the driving force behind the Foundation, which supports Lyme and tickborne disease research, marginalised communities, children, the arts, and environmental sustainability.

Alex is a member of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts Dean’s Council and the Bob Woodruff Honorary Leadership Council, and was named one of Inside Philanthropy’s “50 Most Powerful Women in U.S. Philanthropy.” She also serves on the Chairman’s Council of the New York Restoration Project and the Chairman’s Council of the New York Restoration Project.
