Ilhan Omar has three children with Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi. The couple got engaged in 2002had an unofficial faith-based Islamic marriage. By 2008, Omar announced that they had divorced within their faith tradition.

In 2011, after Omar had a faith-based divorce from her second husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, she reconciled with Hirsi. After her official divorce in 2017, she and Hirsi got married in 2018. However, on October 7, 2019, Omar filed for divorce from Hirsi, citing an “irretrievable breakdown” of the marriage.

Isra Hirsi, born February 22, 2003, is an American environmental activist. She is the co-founder and co-executive director of the U.S. Youth Climate Strike.

In 2019, she won both a Brower Youth Award and a Voice of the Future Award. She was named in Fortune’s 40 Under 40 Government and Politics list in 2020. In the same year, she was placed on BET’s “Future 40” list.
