Born one of three sons of his parents. Sloot grew up in Aruba having been born in Arnhem. He attended the International School of Aruba, where he was an honour student.

He was a star soccer and tennis athlete at the school, competing in doubles tennis with his father at the Moët et Chandon Anniversary Cup in 2005 and hoped to play for Saint Leo University.

He was born to his parents on August 6, 1987, hence, he is 35 years old now.

He was accused of extorting and defrauding Natalee Holloway’s mom following her disappearance.

On 13 January 2012, he was sentenced to 28 years imprisonment for Flores’s murder. In January 2023, an additional 18 years were added to his sentence for trafficking cocaine while in prison

He is the son of Paul van der Sloot and Anita van der Sloot-Hugen. His father who has born in 1952 but passed away in 2010 was a lawyer. His mother on the other hand was an art teacher.

He is one of three sons of his parents as previously stated, hence, he has two brothers whose identities are yet to be revealed.

He is a married man who has been married for close to a decade now. He is happily married to his wife,  Leidy Figueroa. The two tied the knot on July 4, 2014. The two share a son who was born in September 2014.
