Nick Mason was born Nicholas Berkeley Mason is an English drummer who is best known as a founding member of the progressive rock band Pink Floyd. The band, Pink Floyd was formed in 1965. Mason has been featured on all of Pink Floyd studio albums. He has also been a constant member of the band since its formation.

Nick was born on January 27, 1944, in Birmingham. He was brought up in Hampstead London. His father, Bill Mason, was a documentary filmmaker. He attended the Hall School, Hampstead, and afterwards studied at Frensham Heights School, near Farnham, Surrey. After graduating from Frensham Heights School, he joined Regent Street Polytechnic which is now the University of Westminster. While at Regent, he teamed up with Roger Waters, Bob Klose and Richard Wright to form Pink Floyd’s predecessor, Sigma 6.
