The daughter of Michael Jackson recalled how supportive her dad was, always encouraging her to follow her dreams no matter what! While a guest on Good Morning America, Paris Jackson chatted with ABC News’ Chris Connelly about her music career as part of her indie-folk band The Soundflowers, her late father and more!

That being said, one of the revelations of the interview was that Michael Jackson was a really supportive parent, always telling Paris that she should do ‘what makes [her] happy.’

Sure enough, she is following his advice.

‘No matter what it was we were interested in, at one point, I wanted to be an astronaut, he [Michael Jackson] was like, ‘Do it. Do it,’’ the singer and actress shared during the interview.

Paris went on to share some of his words of wisdom that have helped her a lot and that she still follows today.

‘You know, ‘Educate yourself as much as possible, then go with it.’ With every aspect of life, it was just supportive … I think we were really lucky to have that. ‘Just do what makes you happy and do it well.’ It wasn’t until the last, like, couple of years where I started calling myself a musician and embracing that you know, the feeling that I think I was born to do this. I originally started writing music for myself, just as, like, just to get things out, to purge. It just feels good to… share it. It feels like, not butterflies in your stomach, but in your heart,’ Paris stated.

Finally, she started doing music seriously when she met her other half, boyfriend Gabriel Glenn.

The two started the band and are really happy to create together, their common passion for music definitely playing a huge role in how close they really are.
