Who Is Vanessa Redgrave?

Dame Vanessa Redgrave is an English actress and activist, who became famous in the early 1960s with her role as Rosalind in the Shakespearean comedy As You Like It.

Born on January 30, 1937, in Blackheath, London, England, Redgrave attended the Central School of Speech and Drama in 1954, during which she appeared in a number of West End productions, Broadway, and Shakespearean plays.

Redgrave made her acting debut in 1960, co-starring with her father in The Tiger and the Horse. The following year, she played Rosalind in the Shakespearean comedy As You Like It, a role which won her awards

Redgrave’s career spans over six decades, and has appeared in several films including the medical drama Behind the Mask, Morgan: A Suitable Case for Treatment, Julia, Isadora, Mary Queen of Scots, The Bostonians, and Howards End.

Others include A Man for All Seasons, Blowup, Camelot, Dropout, The Devils, Vacation, Murder on the Orient Express, Prick Up Your Ears, Mission: Impossible, Atonement, Letters to Juliet, Coriolanus, Cars 2, and The Butler.
