Following his health concerns, Scott Van Pelt has made headlines. Due to a medical condition, he did not lead “SportsCenter” on Monday night following the national championship game.

He co-anchored ESPN’s SportsCenter at 11 p.m., was a co-host of SVP & Russillo on ESPN Radio with Ryen Russillo, and hosted several golf events for the network.

Van Pelt departed his radio show in June 2015 to become a single anchor for a SportsCenter midnight edition.

Scott, 55, has been a mainstay at ESPN for the past two decades, having joined the network in 2001.

Along with his anchoring duties, he has presented various radio shows. “I’m disappointed to miss one of my favorite shows of the year,” he remarked.

Since 2015, Van Pelt has hosted a late-edition show called “SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt,” which features highlights and discussion.

Following College Football Playoff national championship game on Monday, Scott Van Pelt could not broadcast ESPN’s “SportsCenter” due to a “medical crisis” regarding his heart.

Van Pelt stated on Twitter that his “heart went a little out of wack” and that he was transferred to a Bethesda, Maryland, hospital on Monday afternoon.

After Georgia defeated Alabama to win its first national championship since 1980, John Anderson and Michael Eaves took over as hosts of the postgame show.

Scott Van Pelt works as an ESPN sportscaster. However, he did not appear in the Monday night broadcast of “SportsCenter.”

While Van Pelt verified that he was at home, he did not provide any other information on his condition or a timetable for his return.

Van Pelt has worked for ESPN in a variety of capacities since joining the network in 2001 as a prominent professional golf correspondent. Scott gives analysis at the Masters and participates on many “Bad Beats” segments in addition to having his own radio show, “The Scott Van Pelt Show.”

Van Pelt, 55, is also the host of “SportsCenter,” a late-night show that airs after prime-time events.
