Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is best known, especially on social media by her initials, AOC. She became well-known as the youngest woman ever to serve in the United States Congress.

She attended Yorktown High School and graduated in 2007. In high school and later in college, she went by the name Sandy Ocasio.

In the same year, she participated in the microbiology category of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. Her research project on the effect of antioxidants on the lifespan of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans.
